Doe Deere, From Grassroots to the Big Screen

The “Queen of Unicorns”, whom many call Doe Deere, is a Russian born entrepreneur, musician, and pop culture icon. She is the founder and owner of Lime crime, an extremely successful makeup company that is known for its strong social media presence, as well as modern-day marketing techniques. She is famously loved for being her own model, as she proudly wears her bold and flashy makeup herself (https://theweirdstore.net/blogs/the-weird-store/how-doe-deere-became-queen-of-the-unicorns). She first used this marketing strategy when she was just 13 years old when she first dipped her toes in the vast world of business and entrepreneurship. As a teenager, she started her first business in her home country of Russia selling temporary tattoos. At the time they were a hot item for Russian teenagers. Her classmates were quickly enticed to buy them after she used herself as a living model for the tattoos and showed her friends just how stylish and cool they were. Little did Doe Deere know, she would soon be using this same technique to successfully market and sell cosmetic products to thousands of young ladies via Instagram and the World Wide Web. A decade later she is the proud owner and founder of the widely loved and creatively brave cosmetic company, Lime Crime.

Not only was she given the opportunity to meet her husband, but she was also able to learn a variety of skills that would eventually build her into the entrepreneur that she is today.  Doe Deere met her husband when she began playing with him in a local band in New York City. Being in a band together not only grew there affections for one another, but it also taught them how to successfully collaborate and coexist in creative and business endeavors. They spent a lot of time in NYC marketing and enthusiastically promoting their band at the time. Doe Deere is happy for these years as she feels they equipped her with much of the skills and knowledge she needed to be a lucrative and prosperous entrepreneur. She was first inspired to begin her a cosmetic company due to the lack of exciting and bright colors available in makeup during the early 2000s. While natural and boring colors were being heavily marketed, Doe Deere was actually searching for something more bold for her to wear herself. She began creating and compiling a variety of glossy, bright cosmetic products during this time and was shocked and excited to see how well-received they were. Although she began creating this makeup for herself, it eventually turned into a national trend, and girls all across the country were flocking to Doe Deere’s websites and social media pages in hopes of trying some of this new and trendy makeup for themselves. Lime Crime has become a monumental brand for women who desire to freely express their individuality without concern for others opinions.
